What are the scholarships available in the UK?


I have been trying to find a scholarship abroad particularly in the UK but I am not making any progress can you guys help me with any info.


I suggest you try Germany if are unable to find scholarships abroad to UK. A lot of schools are free in German, and if you are finding it hard to apply to Germany, you can use Timbu Admissions

There are a whole lot of scholarships in the UK, I will share some of them with you. Some of them are government founded and some are non government, those are the two major categories.

A. Government-funded UK scholarships for international students

  1. British Chevening Scholarships** –UK scholarships for international students funded by the UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office and partnered organizations. The scholarships provide full or part funding for full-time graduate programs in any subject.

  2. Commonwealth Scholarships for Developing Commonwealth Countries** –scholarships for international students funded by the UK Department for International Development (DFID) for masters and PhD students from developing Commonwealth countries to study in the UK.

  3. Commonwealth Shared Scholarship Scheme at UK Universities** – UK scholarships for international students undertaking taught master’s programs in the UK. Programs studied must be demonstrably relevant to the development of technology, economy or society within the student’s country of origin.

B. Non-governmental UK scholarships for international students

  1. Euraxess UK – run by the British Council, Euraxess UK offers various graduate research scholarships for international students around the world.

  2. For African students:

Nigeria LNG Overseas Postgraduate Scholarships Scheme ­– scholarships to study in the UK for postgraduate master’s students from Nigeria pursuing careers in the oil and gas sector. Students must be studying engineering, geosciences, environmental science, management science, medicine, IT or law. Students should be no more than 30 years old and must have completed the National Youth Service Corp.
They are way more which are mostly country specific.

C. University-specific UK scholarships for international students

  1. Bristol University International Scholarships – UK scholarships for international students to study at Bristol University on any undergraduate or postgraduate program at the school.

  2. Cardiff University Elite International Scholarships – bachelor’s and master’s degree UK scholarships for international students to study at Cardiff University in Wales.

  3. Clarendon Scholarships at University of Oxford – sponsored by Oxford University Press, the Clarendon Fund offers UK scholarships to full- and part-time graduate students at the University of Oxford.

  4. University of Edinburgh Global Scholarships – various UK scholarships programs for graduate international students enrolling at Scotland’s University of Edinburgh. Special awards offered to students from developing countries, students Global Health Academy programs, and students from Latin America.

  5. Gates Cambridge Scholarships for International Students – offering full UK scholarships for international students to study in the UK at Cambridge University. For full-time postgraduate students only.

  6. Rhodes Scholarships at Oxford University for International Students – merit-based UK scholarships for master’s and PhD students to study at Oxford University.

  7. Swansea University Undergraduate Scholarships – a selection of undergraduate and postgraduate scholarships to study in the UK. Available to students from various regions, particularly the EU, Asia and the Middle East.

  8. University of Birmingham International Postgraduate Scholarships – offering 20 tuition scholarships for master’s students to study in the UK at the University of Birmingham.

  9. University of West London International Ambassador Scholarships – offering up to 100 scholarships for international students to study in the UK and to be ambassadors of their home country. Open to both undergraduate and postgraduate students.

  10. Westminster Full Fee Scholarships for International Students – UK scholarships for master’s students enrolled at the University of Westminster. Awards are offered based on academic merit (first-class honors degree) and financial need.
